ABOUT
TWO TO THREE WEEK GUIDELINE
Tattoos are fresh wounds that require significant attention during the first week.
It is important that you care for it properly to deter infections or complications.
Please avoid google or searching your concerns online as they are rarely accurate.
Important Note: please remember that not everyone’s healing process looks the same and highly depends on lifestyle, environment and health.
First Steps:
Bandages are used to keep your wound clean and protected from external bacteria. Plasma, blood, and ink will discharge for the first few days along with some swelling, which is a normal bodily response.
- Cotton Gauze: leave on overnight or until next day
- Second Skin (Waterproof): leave on for a minimum of 24 hours to a maximum of five days
Sensitive Skin: some may experience a dull to normal amount of irritation and redness around the tattoo due to the strong adhesive; normally will disappear after removal.
Next Steps (First Week):
- Before removing bandage, have paper towels ready to dry your tattoo and change bed linens if soiled
- With clean hands, gently peel off the bandage at the end of your lukewarm shower
- With a dollop of unscented soap, ensure all bandage adhesive, plasma, blood, and ink is cleansed thoroughly; do not scrub!
- Dry the tattoo with clean paper towels and apply a thin layer of unscented water-based moisturizer
- Now leave it alone!!!! Seriously! Do not wash or moisturize it unless absolutely necessary!
Last Steps (Second Week):
- At the second week, the scabbing stage begins which indicates you are at the halfway point
- The tattoo can become very itchy, please try your goddamn best not to touch; now you can start lightly moisturizing with clean hands
-
Winter/Dry Skin?:
Over moisturizing can cause irritation or harbor bacteria so please use your best judgement if your skin is more on the dry side.
