Design, Drawing & Process:
My practice is based on a lot of trust, as all final designs are shown on the day of your appointment with one necessary revision. However, a virtual draft preview may be scheduled 48 hours beforehand if requested via the booking form if inquiring a minimum of two weeks before preferred appointment date.

Change of Heart? Change of Mind:
Changing the direction, subject or idea a week before your appointment may result in a cancellation. To deter forfeiting your deposit, please have a confident idea prepared; vague ideas are rarely accepted.

Projects I Rarely Take On:
  • Placements: feet, fingers, most of the hand, genital area, face, and scars that are under two years old
  • Subjects: others’ work without written permission, micro-fineline tiny work under 2”, extreme colourism or realism, neo-traditional., hate, vague cover-ups

PREPARATIONS & AFTERCARE:

“How do I prepare?”:
  • eat a good meal, get sufficient sleep, prepare some snacks
  • moisturizing the placement(s) as many nights leading to appointment date
  • deter any strenuous activities before and after
  • bring a refillable water bottle, quiet entertainment and clean clothing

“Does it hurt?”
  • yes, it all hurts; pain tolerance differs from every body and person

“Can I bring a friend for support?”
  • please request due to limited space and/or project limitations

“Numbing cream?”
  • rarely accepted, but may be requested and provided by client

AFTERCARE TDLR: TWO WEEK GUIDELINE

Instructions are always given in person post session and emailed for reference. Gentle reminder that not the healing process and timeline may not be the same for everyone. This is only a general two-week guideline.

Bandages
are to keep wounds clean and protected from external bacteria; plasma, ink and blood will normally discharge for the first few days along with some swelling.

DO: (STEP BY STEP)
  • Prepare a clean bedroom with fresh linens,
  • Wash your hands and set aside clean paper towels.
  • At the end of shower, gently remove bandage:
    Gauze: Overnight
Second Skin: 24 to 72 Hours
  • Cleanse wound gently with lukewarm water and unscented soap; remove plasma, ink and blood.
  • Pat dry with clean paper towels and apply a thin layer of unscented moisturizer to wound.
  • Keep covered with loose clothing until fully healed.
  • Leave it alone, try your best to stay dry and avoid any soap/washing until second week or when scabbing begins.
  • Once scabbing begins, avoid scratching or picking! Instead, start moisturizing(water based only) lightly once or twice a day.
  • Once healed, practice a healthy skincare routine and sun safety.
  • Email us a clear healed photo! We would love to see and make sure everything is A-OK!

DO NOT:
  • Re-bandage
  • Allow yourself and others to touch tattoo
  • Over-moisturize or use medical ointments, oil based moisturizers,  fragranced products or sunscreen
  • Soak tattoo in any water; baths, oceans, swimming, spas, saunas, etc
  • Participate in high-risk sports/physical activities
  • Clean or dry with personal or fabric towels until fully healed
  • Pick, peel or scratch tattoo at anytime
  • Expose to direct sunlight
  • In direct contact with pet/pet dander

    ABOUT THE ARTIST

    嘉敏 | KAMAN | “KAW-MIN” | MULTI-DISCIPLINARY | PROFESSIONAL ARTIST SINCE  2018

“The success of my creative practice is heavily driven by good people and memories.

With that, I believe each project’s success comes from timeless storytelling; true or fiction.”

With almost a decade of being a professional artist, Kaman is recognized for primarily illustrative tattoos and artworks reflecting her childhood summers in Hong Kong.

While her portfolio is diverse, her primary focus remains on exploring the culture and arts of East Asia, deeply influenced by her experiences and philosophies as a Chinese-Born-Canadian.

Outside of work, Kaman is a tea snob that enjoys progressive techno, yapping about new science fiction, home-cooking, survival video games and slowing down in the great outdoors of Vancouver Island.
