At the core of my practice has always been heavily influenced by good stories from my own personal journey.
Funny enough, it was an invisible catalyst I was happily relying on until I found myself problem solving with the same stories again and again … and again.
Today, I continue to fine-tune my design method as I truly believe each project should begin with intention and finish feeling right for a lifetime.
While her portfolio is diverse, her primary focus remains on exploring the culture and arts of East Asia, deeply influenced by her experiences and philosophies as a Chinese Canadian.
Outside of work, Kaman is a tea snob that enjoys progressive techno, yapping her friends’ ears off on a new science fiction, home-cooking, survival video games and camping.

FAQS: DESIGN PROCESS & GENERAL
“Are flashed and customs repeatable?”
To keep each experience unique, no project is repeatable unless stated otherwise.
“What is your skillset or specialization?”
Kaman is trained in traditional blackwork & fineline tattooing, but enjoys most styles; specializing in cursive, lettering, East Asian arts & culture, the natural world, childhood nostalgia, and memorial.
“What if I’m not sure about my placement(s) yet!?”
All projects require a primary placement for proper planning. Secondary placements are optional. No fret if you’re torn between both, as ample preparation is scheduled to ensure you’re content with the final placement.
“Can I see my design ahead of time?”
Kaman’s process encourages collaboration as final designs are best viewed in person vs. online. Small to medium final designs are viewed at the start of the appointment with ample time for a small necessary revision. Drafts must be requested in booking form a minimum of two weeks before appointment date.
“I have an appointment, but can I change my design?”
If you change your mind on the day of your appointment, it will be considered a cancellation unless the impactful changes were approved via email. If you are feeling unsure, let us know as soon as possible so we can help you out!
“How do consultations work?”
Virtual consultations are only available for complicated or large projects for the time being.
“How will I know the status of my inquiry form?”
Please check your spam folder! All inquiries will receive an approved, denied or confirmation invoice within 1-10 business days.
“Does it hurt?”
It all hurts! Some areas are more sensitive and/or uncomfortable than others but most people are fine.
“Can I bring a friend?”
Only if support is necessary and requested ahead of time as our studio still upholds a covid-19 policy.
“What accommodations does your studio provide?”
Privacy screens, fidget toys, pillows, and dim lighting + more! Please let us know what accommodations you require in the booking form! We’ll try our best to accommodate!
“What tattoo styles do you deny?”
Micro-fineline tiny tiny work, extreme colourism, extreme realism, neo-traditional.
“Can I book multiple tattoos for one appointment?”
Yes, absolutely! As long as you’re comfortable with the pain! Please note that multiple projects may require multiple deposits and drawing fees.
“Are there placement(s) and subjects you do not tattoo?”
- Placements: feet, fingers, most of the hand, genital area, face, and scars that are under two years old
- Subjects: others’ work without written permission or hateful designs
“Do I need to tip?”
The tattoo industry is the same as any personal service industry, not mandatory but appreciated.
- Kaman’s Tip Preference: Snacks, food or lattes!
“Can you touch up work done by another tattooist?”
Please check with your original artist first and foremost beforehand.
“Will you be coming to _____ to guest?”
Kaman primarily travels between Toronto & Victoria for the time being.
“I’m on medication and/or have medical needs, can I still get a tattoo?”

“How long does it take to heal?”
Generally, 2 to 4 weeks
“Can I get a tattoo if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?”
Unfortunately no, but other artist’s may help you.
“Do you do cover-up projects?”
Only if absolutely confident.
